Storytelling performed in the vibrant oral tradition is a key to literacy and engagement

We perform stories and bring them to life for children with fun, cultural folktales that integrate animated narration, improvisation and an array of props, music and song. Story theater programs are also available, where children and youth enact vibrant tales through acting, characterization, theater games, improvisation and performance.  Multicultural folktales are emphasized, along with oral traditions of family, relatives and ancestors. State standards in Performance Arts (VAPA) are woven throughout the sessions if desired, but participants will be having too much fun to notice! Sessions may be arranged for age groups.

How to Select a Story

Select stories that include the cultures of the children in your class.  This creates a culturally safe atmosphere and helps them identify themselves within their heritage. Similarly, choose stories from different countries and traditions to teach awareness.
